The British International Schools of Moscow, established in April of 1994, is a non-governmental educational establishment, one of the founders being the English company Nord Anglia PLC which has over 30 schools and academies in Great Britain and other countries. All educational centres of Nord Anglia Education PLC are recognised by the British Council. Today children of more than 65 nationalities study in the British International School, representing children of Russian citizens, colleagues in the majority of embassies, and also those working in the largest foreign companies in Moscow.
The school provides children aged 3 – 18 with the opportunity of receiving, in Moscow, a British education taught by qualified specialists from Great Britain and also, if they so wish, a Russian education, without leaving the country. Lessons within the British Curriculum are taught in English. If necessary, pupils undergo special English language preparation classes. All children learn Russian and another foreign language of their choice – French, German or Spanish. Pupils in older classes prepare to take IGCSE exams (the International General Certificate of Secondary Education), in line with Cambridge and London Universities. At the end of their schooling pupils take exams and receive the internationally recognised certificate ‘IB’ (International Baccalaureate), which enables them to enter western universities and colleges of higher education.
The British International Schools provide education for children of Russian and foreign citizens. Two different sections function in this elite educational establishment: the Russian and the International sections.
In the Russian section, pupils are taught in line with the Russian Curriculum, with additional elements of the British National Curriculum. Intensive English language studies and a range of other subjects are taught with the help of British specialists. School leavers receive the Russian certificate for secondary education and, with fluent English, can continue their studies in the best universities of the world, on equal footing with their peers who have been educated abroad.

The language academy ‘Polyglot’ works within the framework of the school. Here both children and adults are prepared not only for Cambridge exams but also for TOEFL, IELTS, CBC, and for accountancy exams to ACCA and CIMA standards, receiving internationally recognised certificates. The largest companies in Moscow use the services of this Academy.
The school organises language placements for both children and specialists, in Great Britain, Ireland, America, Australia and other countries, and also helps organise the entrance of children to schools, boarding schools, colleges and universities in UK to receive basic and higher education.
