In the Primary School children of preschool age study in Reception (where Elkonin-Davidova’s system and others systems of educational development is followed), and then go on to study from Years 1 - 4. At this level classes are small (no more than 12 children) and the following subjects are studied: English (10 hours a week), mathematics, Russian language, science, art, craft, computer basics, music (by British and Russian Curriculum), and a second language (optional). The physical well-being of the children plays an important role in school: children in primary school have four hours a week of physical education: in the sports’ hall, the swimming pool, and in eurhythmics lessons. The creative potential of the children is actively developed through singing, writing poetry, playing musical instruments, and acting – these are all available to everyone in the school.
